Below are several.  If you have other questions, send them to us and we might add them here to our website.

Isn't Christianity a Western religion?

Actually, Christianity has its roots in the Middle East, and Christianity came to Asia and specifically to India long before it ever went to the west.  True, a larger percentage of Western people embraced the ideals of Christianity in past centuries, but that is no longer true today.  More people in the world's eastern hemisphere are now turning to Christ than in the west.

If I follow Jesus, will I have to change my name?

It is not necessary and should usually be discouraged to change your name. There are some people who change their names, but there is no obligation on God’s part or commandment in the Bible on this subject. There are occasions in the Bible where people changed their names, but not everyone did. God wants us to be changed inwardly, not just outwardly.

If I follow Jesus, will I have to eat meat?

No. Nowhere in the Bible does it say a follower of Jesus must eat meat. If you are a vegetarian and you decide to follow Jesus, you can remain a vegetarian.

If I follow Jesus, will I have to leave my family?

Not at all. You should stay with your family.  You do not need to leave your family, because if you stay with them, you can share with them about what God has done in your life. On many occasions when people decided to become a follower of Jesus, Jesus told them to go to their homes and tell everyone what He had done for them. (One example is in Story 7 in the section “Life of Jesus”) God’s desire is that all of your family come to know the truth.

Most Christians I know are not good people.  Why??

We all know many Hindus who are very devoted and very active in their religion, just like we all know many who are not.  This is true in Christianity as well.  Many people were born into "Christian" families, but don't actually follow the teaching of Jesus or live the lifestyle that Jesus demonstrated for His followers.  Another common mistake is to think that many of the very immoral white people that are in Western movies and TV shows are Christians.  They may call themselves Christians, but they too are not living the kind of life that true Christians should live.

Was Jesus a real person? Was He Western?

Jesus was a real person. The life of Jesus proves it:
He was born of a woman in a human family and He had human ancestry. He possessed a physical nature like us; He was hungry, thirsty, weary, and sleepy. He had love and compassion; His death on the cross was the major proof of His humanity and real personhood.  Jesus was not western. He was born into a Jewish family in the small city of Bethlehem in Israel. He grew up in Nazareth, and lived his entire life in the country of Israel in Asia. Jesus lived for about 33 years and died around AD 33.

What is Sin?

It is to disobey and disregard God and God's order. God defines what constitutes sin. It is doing anything that displeases God and goes against His will. Sin is also not doing what God wants us to do. It is a violation of an accepted moral, spiritual/religious or social code for one's own selfish motive. Sin is to live a self-centered life. Sin can be committed as an outward action or an inward thought or attitude. For example, Jesus says that adultery can be an outward action but can also be a sin of the heart and mind when a man thinks badly of a woman in his heart. When we sin in our hearts and minds, it may be hidden or unnoticed by others, but it is not hidden from God. Sin is what separates us from God and causes us to not be at peace with Him.
